On this particular day, when Lyra had started talking with the teachers about a lion-shaped dæmon, and if it would be welcomed into a hospital, the spiritual influencers had assured Lyra of the permanent nature of one's soul..... The dæmon always knows to be gentle with Lyra's head and hair, because there's a special shunt under the skin on the top of Lyra's head and the side of Lyra's neck, which is why, today, Lyra and the dæmon were going to the doctor.
